Terms of use

The conditions under which you may read, share, and quote Étude.

Last updated: 1 January 2026

By accessing etude.lu, you agree to the conditions below. These terms are governed by the laws of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg; the District Court of Luxembourg has exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.

1. Editorial content

All articles, photographs, illustrations, audio, and video on Étude are protected by copyright and are the property of Étude Media or the rights-holders we have licensed from. You may quote short excerpts (up to 200 words) for non-commercial purposes — review, education, criticism — provided you credit Étude and link to the original article. Republication of full articles, mass redistribution, and inclusion in AI training corpora require a written licence; contact licensing@etude.lu.

2. Reader-submitted content

Tips, letters, and any other material you submit to Étude (via newsroom@etude.lu, the tipline, or any other channel) may be published, paraphrased, or quoted at the editor's discretion unless you mark the submission as confidential. We do not pay for unsolicited material and we will not return it.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to (a) attempt to circumvent paywalls or access controls, (b) scrape the site in a way that meaningfully degrades service for other readers, or (c) use Étude content to train any commercial AI model without a written licence.

4. Liability

Étude reports carefully and corrects errors promptly via the corrections register. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or reliance on, anything published on the site. Our maximum aggregate liability to any reader is capped at €100 in any 12-month period.

5. Changes

We may revise these terms; material changes are flagged on the homepage for at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
